Upon completing an MPhil in Nuclear Energy at the University of Cambridge, I have dedicated my career to bridging the gap between the nuclear industry and the rest of society.

 

I am the founder and director of The Empowered Atom – an editorial knowledge platform that attempts science communication through art and design. Based in the Netherlands, I often moderate and host panel sessions, webinars, and conferences in the nuclear industry and actively participate in the societal conversation on the potential of nuclear energy as a climate change mitigator.

During my time working as an energy transition consultant to Dutch industry and policymakers, I realised that the perception of nuclear risks rather than the actual risks governs decision-making on nuclear power. With the aim of better supporting policy, I am now return to the Cambridge Nuclear Energy Centre as a PhD student to conduct research on alternative ways of assessing and communicating nuclear risks.
